IFC Midnight checks into Snowtown, gets N.A. rights to psychological thriller

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Last month we saw the initial trailer for SNOWTOWN, an Australian psychological thriller from feature first-timer Justin Kurzel. Props to him, as IFC Midnight has just locked North American rights to the Protagonists Pictures production.

Word comes from Variety, who states IFC nabbed the rights after a successful screening at Cannes this week. Apparently the film was awarded a special citation by the Critics Week jury. SNOWTOWN will also compete for a Camera d’Or.

Co-written with Kurzel by Shaun Grant, SNOWTOWN gears up:

When sixteen-year-old Jamie is introduced to a charismatic man, a friendship begins. As the relationship grows so do Jamie’s suspicions, until he finds his world threatened by both his loyalty for, and fear of, his newfound father-figure John Bunting, Australia’s most notorious serial killer.

No release date has been given, but feel free to re(visit) the SNOWTOWN trailer below!
