Japanese novel and anime series Ghost Hunt being made into live-action film

Kadokawa Shoten has announced they’re making a live-action version of GHOST HUNT, based on the popular novel and manga series is set to go into production next month. The title has also been made into an anime series and even a radio drama.

The screenplay was written by Atsuyuki Shimoda (SADAKO 3D) and Shotaro Oikawa, based on the original novel by Fuyumi Ono. Yoshitaka Yamaguchi, once an assistant to Takashi Miike, will direct.

GHOST HUNT follows the adventures of the Shibuya Psychic Research Center as they investigate mysterious occurrences all over Japan with a team of other spiritualists and clever assistants.

The cast includes Maya Fukuzawa as the Mai Taniyama character, Mizuki Yamamoto as Masako Hara, and Yosuke Kawamura as Houshou Takigawa.
