King Kong revived yet again, this time in animated, modern-day form

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

One of these decades, King Kong will be able to get some rest…

Deadline.com brings us the ho-hum news that King Kong, the poor fellow who just can’t be left alone, will be revived once again. Call it a reboot of sorts, but not the way you think: This time the big guy will come in animated form. Not only that, the pic will be set in modern times and the story will be from the vantage point of Kong himself.

No further details are provided, but I’d be shocked if this isn’t being prepped for 3D.

20th Century Fox will distribute. Christian Magalhaes & Bob Snow will write the flick, which is being produced by Shawn Levy’s production company 21 Laps. Radar Pictures (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE) is also on board to produce. No director has been set yet.
