McFarlane Toys licensing The Walking Dead action figures - see the first two here!

02.11.2011by: Alex DiVincenzo

McFarlane Toys has acquired the toy licensing rights to "The Walking Dead." The action figure line will official debut at Toy Fair 2011 this weekend, but the first two zombie figures can be seen below.

The first series is based on Robert Kirkman's original comic books and will hit shelves in September. It will feature Officer Rick Grimes, Michonne, Zombie Lurker and Zombie Roamer.

The second series is based on the hit AMC television show and will be out in November. It will include Deputy Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Zombie Walker and Zombie Biter.

McFarlane Toys CEO Todd McFarlane had the following to say, "Kirkman has created a world that is macabre and suspenseful with deeply-drawn characters: both human and zombies. Working with the creative talents of Kirkman and AMC, we have planned figures lines that authentically represent both the television and comic series – including mind-blowing details, likenesses and play action.  We want to push the envelope so that the true essence of 'The Walking Dead' series is captured."

Kirkman added, "I simply cannot contain my excitement over working with McFarlane Toys. For nearly two decades McFarlane Toys have proven themselves to be leading the pack when it comes to making cool looking, innovative toys, and I'm thrilled that they're going to continue to do so with 'The Walking Dead.'"

Each deluxe 6-inch figure includes interchangeable accessories and several points of articulation. They will sell for around $14.99 each. Who else is going to be picking these bad boys up?

Extra Tidbit: McFarlane Toys will also be debuting a HALO REACH line at Toy Fair.

These toys look awesome. Now if only McFarlane decides to make more Spawn figures.

these don't really impress me. they could be generic zombies from any zombie flick. would rather get the creepy little girl or the guy in a business suit, which are more iconic to Walking Dead.

This is awesome!

I am happy to read this news. Sometimes it pays to be co-creators on a comic (Haunt), huh?

Alex, man, the facts are wrong though. I think you flipped the two sets. That first series of toys has Michonne in it and she's from the comic; not established in the show yet. Can't wait though! Also the Dixon brothers were only created for the show, so that second series is the tv show set.

Thanks for the news!

McFarlane toys have always been quality, ever since I first started collecting the Spawn series during the 90's. Definitely getting my hands on these a.s.a.p.
