Michael Gross has seen Tremors 5: Bloodlines, which has cover art and rating

As its October DVD/Blu-ray/VOD release date nears (the specific date has yet to be announced), Universal Home Entertainment is getting prepared to reveal TREMORS 5: BLOODLINES to the public. The finishing touches have been put on the film in post-production, and this past Tuesday it was ready for its first screening.

The movie was shown in the Alfred Hitchcock Screening Room on the Universal lot to an audience of just twenty-five people. Among them was star Michael Gross, who reprises his role of survivalist Burt Gummer in the new sequel. Gross posted the following reaction on his Facebook page:

ONE NEVER QUITE KNOWS how a film will turn out months after it has been out of your hands, but yesterday's screening of Tremors 5: Bloodlines at Universal Studios Entertainment put my worries to rest. There is humor, emotion, an extraordinary group of actors, and the full-throttle horror you have come to expect from this franchise. Burt Gummer is back, and teamed with the hilarious Jamie Kennedy. My grandson Nick gave it a "thumbs-up."

Earlier this year, Universal posted two cover art options for the film and allowed fans to vote on which one they'd rather see on their DVDs and Blus. The winner was announced this week on Gross's Facebook page and can be seen below.

Another audience who has gotten a chance to see TREMORS 5 consisted of members of the MPAA. According to FilmRatings.com, the movie received exactly the sort of rating you'd expect an entry in this series to receive:

Rated PG-13 for creature violence, gore, and language

Written by TREMORS 3: BACK TO PERFECTION's John Whelpley and directed by Don Michael Paul, a go-to guy for DTV sequels, TREMORS 5: BLOODLINES has the following synopsis:

In this all-new adventure that travels halfway around the world to South Africa, the Graboids and the Ass Blasters are not only bigger and badder but Tremors 5 introduces an additional unexpected surprise that raises the stakes in the battle for survival.

Michael Gross returns as weapons enthusiast and expert subterranean creature hunter Burt Gummer with Jamie Kennedy as his new right hand man, tech-savvy Travis. The pair are joined by an international cast as they mount a battle against the deadly creatures that turns out to be far more than they bargained for.

I'm a huge fan of the TREMORS franchise. I love all four movies and the cancelled-too-soon TV show, so I've been looking forward to a part 5 for more than ten years now. I'm extremely hyped that a new movie has finally been made, I can't wait to check this one out. That BLOODLINES subtitle is kind of lame and it's disappointing that the original creators weren't involved, but that still doesn't dampen my enthusiasm for the fact that I'm going to get to see Burt Gummer battle these monsters again.
