THE EVIL DEAD remake is looking to cast another role, with Lou Taylor Pucci in talks. Pucci broke out with the indie film THUMBSUCKER, and he’s no stranger to the genre either as he starred with Chris Pine in the solid flick CARRIERS.

The character he is set to play is that of Eric, Variety describes him as academic whose intellectual curiosity gets him and his friends into trouble. I’ll bet his character lasts till the end, sounds like the right type too, and he fits the mould.

Five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

The film will be directed by Fede Alvarez, he co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues, with Diabolo Cody doing some work on it. Ghost House Pictures will behind the project, with Producers who have strong ties to the original Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert. Sony Pictures will distribute the film as well.

Pucci will star along side Shiloh Fernandez as the male lead and Jane Levy as the female lead. It is currently in production in New Zealand. The release date is set for April 12th, 2013.
