NBC eyeing anthology series from Jason Blum, Tony Krantz, & Endemol Studios

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Television has seen some truly great anthology series over the years. "The Twilight Zone", "Tales From the Darkside", and "Monsters" certainly come to mind when thinking of some of the most entertaining anthology series to hit the small screen. But those series were on the air years ago, and now I pose this question: when was the last time we had a really great anthology series on TV? It's been a while. But now NBC is teaming with one of the biggest names in horror to bring us a new series that should deliver thrills and chills week after week.

Deadline is reporting that horror master Jason Blum has teamed with producer-director Tony Krantz (NBC’s "Dracula") and Endemol Studios (FX's "Hell On Wheels") for a horror/sci-fi/thriller anthology drama. It has been set up at NBC with a script-to-series commitment, meaning upon script approval the project would receive a 10-episode straight-to-series order. Nice!

Deadline also reports that the stories will be inspired by true events, and in the vein of "The Twilight Zone", each episode will be stand-alone. Blum and Krantz are set to executive produce; horror-writing quartet Radio Silence (Chad Villella, Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Justin Martinez) are attached to write.

This sounds great! A lot of fans feel that Blum and his Blumhouse Productions have been the reinvigorating shot in the arm the horror genre has needed, and having Radio Silence (whose members have contributed to V/H/S and made this years DEVIL'S DUE) onboard to write is another plus. Hopefully the script is solid enough to move NBC to commit to the 10-episode order.

More on this exciting sounding project as we hear it.
