Pacific Northwest Pictures acquires Canadian rights for Cheap Thrills

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

One film we're excited to check out is E.L. Katz's CHEAP THRILLS, which, from the looks of the trailer we brought you late last month, appears to be one nasty little ride. You may remember that we shared the news that Drafthouse Films had acquired the U.S. theatrical, VOD and home video rights to the David Chirchirillo and Trent Haaga-penned film back in March after its successful premiere at SXSW 2013, and today we've learned that Pacific Northwest Pictures has acquired the Canadian rights to the festival hit.

Screen Daily is reporting that Canadian distributor Pacific Northwest Pictures has acquired CHEAP THRILLS following a deal with Films Distribution. The film recently won the New Flesh Award for best first feature at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal.

Pacific Northwest Pictures plans to release CHEAP THRILLS theatrically in Canada day-and-date with Drafthouse Films’ U.S. release, planned for first quarter 2014. The film has the following synopsis:

Recently fired and facing eviction, a new dad has his life turned upside down when he meets a wealthy couple who offer a path to financial security… but at a price.

The film stars David Koechner, Ethan Embry, Amanda Fuller, and THE INNKEEPERS costars Pat Healy and Sara Paxton.
