Serial killer movie The House That Jack Built coming from Lars von Trier

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Provocative Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier, whose previous works include the mini-series The Kingdom and the shocking Charlotte Gainsbourg/Willem Dafoe film ANTICHIRST, has announced that production will begin this fall on his next movie, THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT.

While the title comes from a 1755 nursery rhyme that was all about the people and animals that interacted around a certain house, von Trier's THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT

follows a serial killer, but from the murderer's point of view.

If the director demonstrates his usual willingness to push boundaries, this serial killer story could turn out to be extremely disturbing.

The project was originally announced in 2014, at which time von Trier was planning for it to be an 8-episode mini-series. Apparently it has now been pared down into one feature film.
