Stranger Things 2 scored 15.8 million viewers last weekend

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I wasn't the world's biggest fan of the first season of Netflix and The Duffer Brother's original series STRANGER THINGS. To say I was "Meh" about the first season could be a borderline understatement. But that said I loved the second season. I actually wrote a whole Top 5 about why the second season was better than the first.

With this in mind, I'm happy to hear 15.8 million people watched STRANGER THINGS 2 last weekend.

Wait, what? How do we know this? I thought Netflix never, and I repeat NEVER released their numbers to the public. Yeah, I thought that too. But evidently, this is a special case, as Nielsen has released the numbers for streaming TV. This is big news, folks.

On top of the show's massive opening weekend viewership, 361,000 people watched all nine of the new hour-long episodes on day one. With the per-episode average hitting 8.8 million total viewers.

You can check out the rundown of ratings on the season entire below – but just know that these numbers aren't overly accurate considering that this is only opening weekend and only crazy people (like this guy) watched every episode in one day. Let alone three. These episode numbers will rise.

Episode Breakdowns:

“Chapter Two” averaged 13.7 million viewers P2+ and 9.6 million people 18-49 viewing over the first three days of its availability

“Chapter Three” averaged 11.6 million viewers P2+ and 8.1 million viewers 18-49 viewing over the first three days of its availability

“Chapter Four” averaged 9.3 million viewers P2+ and 6.6 million viewers 18-49 viewing over the first three days of its availability

“Chapter Five” averaged 8 million viewers P2+ and 5.6 million viewers 18-49 viewing over the first three days of its availability

“Chapter Eight” averaged 4.9 million viewers P2+ and 3.4 million viewers 18-49 viewing over the first three days of its availability

“Chapter Nine” averaged 4.6 million viewers P2+ and 3.2 million viewers 18-49 viewing over the first three days of its availability
