AYLA, the new movie from GUT director / DARK writer Elias, is a project we reported on quite a bit from mid-2015 through early 2016, sharing the teaser poster, following the process, and featuring interviews with cast members Tristan Risk and Bill Oberst Jr. Things then went quiet for a while, but now we have a very cool AYLA update: a teaser trailer has been released for the film and can be seen below.

AYLA has the following synopsis:

The unexplained death of Elton's 4-year-old sister Ayla has left him lost and damaged since he was a boy. All throughout adulthood he's mourned the life with her that could have been.

Born from his need, Elton turns what lived only in mind to flesh and blood once more, a child now reborn with the body of a woman — obsession become flesh. Her name is Ayla, but they used to call her "A."

Judging by the trailer, the decision to bring his sister back to life is going to cause Elton (who is played by Nicholas Wilder) a lot of torment. The teaser doesn't give away much beyond that, but it establishes a very troubling atmosphere and offers glimpses of some interesting images.

Wilder, Risk (who plays Ayla herself), and Oberst Jr. are joined in the cast by Dee Wallace, Miles Joris-Peyrafitte, Andrew Sensenig, Jennifer Lynn Warren, D'Angelo Midili, and Sarah Schoofs.

We'll continue to keep you updated on AYLA as we hear more on the project's status. In the meantime, here's the teaser:
