“The Walking Dead” breaks more records; Who is returning for Season 3?!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

People are still trying to digest “The Walking Dead’s” Season 2 finale form Sunday night. Can you blame them? That shite was insane! So insane in fact that it has once again broken records. Are you surprised? Well you shouldn’t be.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed blog “The Walking Dead” Season 2 finale drew 9 million total viewers, including 6 million in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demo, 5.3 million in adults 25-54 and 3.2 million in 18-34; the demo numbers topped basic-cable records set by February’s Season 2 midseason premiere.

The records just keep right on rolling! But that’s not all the “Walking Dead” news I’ve got for you today. I suppose from here on out we’re entering Spoiler land so proceed with caution.

Fresh off the news that Danai Gurira will be playing the iconic ‘Michonne’ in Season 3 we’ve got word on who else will be joining the third season of the epic series… Or should I say re-joining?! That’s right folks – Michael Rooker has confirmed that he’ll be back as ‘Merle Dixon’ in Season 3! The actor was recently at Wondercon promoting the upcoming video game Lollipop Chainsaw, which he lends his voice. It was here that Rooker (above) dropped the news that he lost 20 pounds for his upcoming return to “The Walking Dead.” Sounds good to me! Chalk it up ladies and gents – ‘Merle’ will be back next season!

And the last bit of “Walking Dead” news I’ve got for you all is a video from AMC that has the cast of the hit zombie drama looking ahead to the third season. I’ve tossed that shite up directly below so scroll on down and check it out.

Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden (below), Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, IronE Singleton, Melissa Suzanne McBride, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker and David Morrissey will all be there when “The Walking Dead” returns to AMC this October for a 16-episode Season 3.
