Thomas Jane joins horror-thriller Somnia

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

We've got some casting news to share with you guys as Variety reports that the always badass Thomas Jane (above) will join Kate Bosworth (below) in Mike Flanagan's SOMNIA which starts production on November 11th.  Flanagan came on board to helm SOMNIA during the Toronto Film Festival after the premiere of his latest film OCULUS. The film was written by Flanagan and Jeff Howard who also co-wrote OCULUS, which was acquired for the U.S by Relativity with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse.

The plot for SOMNIA is very cool as it is being described as a haunting, emotionally absorbing horror film about an orphaned child whose dreams—and nightmares—manifest physically as he sleeps. Can you imagine if that shit happened in real life? We've all had some clownshit crazy dreams before—especially us horror geeks—that would be absolutely horrifying to wake up to. The film will explore the enduring bonds between parent and child and is punctuated by sequences of intense, visceral terror that only a child’s imagination could conjure. Kids can have some seriously twisted little minds so I can only imagine the kind of stuff that's going to come to life in this flick; there's certainly a lot of potential here, I just hope Flanagan takes advantage of it.

Producers on SOMNIA are Intrepid’s Trevor Macy, along with William D. Johnson and Sam Englebardt of Demarest Films, which will produce and co-finance with MICA Entertainment. Mali Elfman and D. Scott Lumpkin are exec producing.
