What is this now? Expendables 2 is a PG-13 film as per Chuck Norris' request?

Jan. 17, 2012by: Marcey Papandrea

There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.

Now, now you can’t expect me to write about Chuck Norris without including a fact! So what is it exactly about Chuck Norris that I have to tell you? Well you know the man is in THE EXPENDABLES 2, and he recently conducted an interview where he was asked about it. The video is not in English, however the peeps over at Expendables Premiere managed to get a translation.

Excuse the weird sounding English … “Playing in this movie was a lot of fun. I play a super hero, who saves everybody's life." That sounds pretty cool right?

Well this next part isn’t so cool … "In Expendables 2, there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. Fot this reason, many young people wouldn't be able to watch this. But i don't play in movies like this. Due to that i said i won't be a part of that if the hardcore language is not ereased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13."

Now wait a second, the original film was balls to the walls hardcore with everything. Are you telling me they were forced to tone it all down for a PG-13 film in order to have Chuck Norris? What does this mean for the film? Is it going to be as badass as the original? How much was compromised? I am not sure I am a fan of this, I understand though that Chuck has his morals and doesn’t want to contradict his beliefs but this is pretty huge. I guess we shall wait and see what the film gets rated by the MPAA, but if it is as what Chuck says, expect a PG-13.

The Expendables are back and this time it's personal... Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) -- with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard -- are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries.

But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time -- six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way...

Sexy returning THE EXPENDABLES 2 star Charisma Carpenter

Extra Tidbit: Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

"The PG13 rumor is true," Stallone writes, "but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This movie touches on many emotions which we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry."

Hope this is not true,

Re. Hip-Hop Legend; I have to disagree. Directors use harsh language in films like this because people use harsh language. Maybe not ministers and nuns, but mercenaries in a warzone? They'd be likely to curse. Frankly if I was working with a bunch of guys who are happy to cut throats but refuse to swear, I'd be more than a little creeped out. If there is no harsh language then the dialogue IS inherently cheesy, like in sci-fi comics/movies where they invent fake expletives (if the English

As for Norris and frankly anyone who shares his worldview, being ok with extreme violence but not with rude words is bizarre moral hypocrisy, otherwise known as ass backwards thinking.

sometimes I think directors throw harsh language in films like this just cause they can. If the script is solid does it really need all the harsh language to make it any better? As long as the dialogue isn't cheesy then who cares?

Im taking this with a huge grain of salt; this really doesnt make sense....chuck norris is no longer a big enough star to call shots like this. If this is indeed gonna be pg13 then it isnt cause of norris solely.

What would be the point in a PG-13 Expendables? the point was to make a throw back to 80's action movies which were - if memory serves - pretty much all R rated. Chuck Norris was a great addition for nostalgia for this type of movie, but IF this true he's only hurting the movie and clearly he's distancing himself from what his known and loved for. Cut him out and go R!! That said I'm finding it hard to believe this will be anything near a PG-13 or that Norris would have that much power over

Sorry, as I said he was great casting for nostalgia but I'd hardly view him as a deal breaker for the movie to be made. If it were Arnie attached to these comments I could by it but not Norris.

Dont panic. If its only for the dialogue then there will surely be another directors/unrated/or whatthefuckever cut for the fans to enjoy.
An BTW did you know, that Chuck Norris is the reason for the boogeyman to hide in the closet?!

With the PG-13 rating. Chuck Norris single handily destroyed the only character I cared to watch in Expendables 2 which was Dolph Lundgren's Gunnar Jensen. Gunnar need's and wants an R-rating.

Considering his political beliefs and columns for a radically conservative website, it would not be surprising if this is true. Norris is a fucking lunatic. It does seem strange that he would have that much pull on a Stallone movie.

If this is true, then Norris is being a hypocrite. He has starred in at least 17 R-rated films in his career and they contained rough language, violence, sex and nudity. Now he's getting self righteous? He made his fame on R-rated films. I am a big fan of Norris but, this is so hypocritical if accurate. Very disappointed.

He is apparently too good for it because he's like SUCH a quality actor. OK so maybe having Chuck Norris in it isn't so bloody great after all. If it's PG-13 I won't watch that shit. We get enough shitty kids movies out there today, this was an R rated actioner, that was the WHOLE point in The Expendables, it was an old school, hardcore action movie. Despite it's flaws I think it succeeded, how can you make it balls to the wall with a shitty PG-13 rating?
