World War Z Super Bowl Spot looks epic

Feb. 1, 2013by: Kevin Woods

The Super Bowl is this weekend and millions of us will be tuning in to see the Baltimore Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers for the championship. But even if you're not a fan of football there are plenty of other reasons to have your ass planted in your chair Sunday night - the Super Bowl commercials. Yep, Super Bowl Sunday is equally as famous for its slew of commercials, with many companies dropping millions of dollars for a 30-second spot to promote their product. And considering the huge viewing audience the big game pulls in, the top studios are always sure to unveil new spots promoting their upcoming slate of films.

The producers behind WORLD WAR Z figured 'why wait?' and dropped their Super Bowl spot online early for us, and we have a look at it below.

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

WORLD WAR Z is directed by Marc Forster and stars Brad Pitt, Mirielle Enos, James Badge Dale, David Morse and Matthew Fox. It hits theaters on June 21st.

I haven't read the book, so to me it looks cool. The real test will be what the zombies look like. I hope we get something close to how they look on the tv show The Walking Dead. One can only hope!

They clearly don't. The zombies of the book are slow, plodding, only killed by destroying the brain...just like The Walking Dead. Half the narrative of the book is centered around that being the nature of the enemy. The strategies, weapons, and even cultural changes humanity embraces to defeat the zombies are all predicated on the zombies being slow but relentless.

But this flick, which has been in development for what seems like a decade, is opting instead for lightning fast CGI zombies

But this flick, which has been in development for what seems like a decade, is opting instead for lightning fast CGI zombies who don't seem to follow even basic rules of physics. Humanity is threatened not by the risen dead, but by a literal gigantic clusterfuck.

Terrible. Not even a passing resemblance to the book.
