McG is OK w/ T4? Oct. 2, 2007
Source: CHUD
by: Dave Davis

It took director McG a few years to follow up his double-dose of CHARLIE'S ANGELS, but now each week he seems to add another new project to his juggling routine. Is the post-apocalyptic assault on endoskeleton armies up next?

CHUD says the director is on the short list for the fourth TERMINATOR flick, which is currently powering up its processors. The story apparently does what T3 should have, and tell the paradoxical origin of the older John Connor as he roams the burnt landscape smashing the metal motherf*ckers into junk, which seems like it could be perfect territory for McG's whiz-bang visuals.

Of course, the movie is among the 5,719 projects that are trying to gain footage before the Dreaded Strike of Doom and Dread strikes next summer, and McG already has a half-dozen other projects that he's at least producing. But it sounds like he's being pursued for the T4 chair, and might grab a 40-watt phased-plasma rifle and a mansion-building paycheck for some action.

Extra Tidbit: Baller Shaquille O'Neal once spread rumors that he'd play an evil terminator in T3. Instead we got future BLOODRAYNE star Kristanna Loken. I guess we won?

AWESOME!
Why dont they make it a Robocop/Terminator flick, rate it PG-13, and set it in a contradictory time frame before T1 when Skynet sends a T001 back in time to impersonate a governor that rewrites the Constitution and becomes president?

Well, I always knew the movie would suck.....this just confirms it.

PS -- I am the only one who liked We Are Marshall and thought he did good with that.

From JAMES CAMERON to MOSTOW to 'McG'???
do they want this to fail? I think it's a good idea that the next sequel's story cuts right to the future war with an older John Conner, but like HoyleHaw says, it needs arnold. Simply because it seems the previous stories let us believe that that particular model of terminator pretty much all had Arnold faces. Nowadays he doesn't even need to act in it, just lend his face to digital rendering and POW! we get a movie with 1000 Arnold Terminators blowing shit up. Now doesn't that sound better than getting some crappy wrestler to take the Terminators role and pretend Arnold never happened?

WHAT???
The only reason the first three were good was because the good directors were able to handle the material and make sense of it all, it could have easily been a mess.
McG is the least talented guy next to Brett Ratner (ignoring the obvious Boll, Paul Anderson) and he would not be able to grasp the feel and substance of Terminator at all.

Every Terminator film now has had one thing in common, and that's the current California Governator. Now, if they could convince me he'd be in this thing, I'd be interested, because I loved him as the futuristic slasher in the first one, and since this would be the age of bad terminators, he would be one of the first things on the list to pop up (or maybe the last). Point being, he'd need to make an appearance for consistency. Unless they wanna turn Terminator into an AvP-style off-shoot, maybe involving Robocop or something.

And in another note, are we gonna keep reading about that goddamn strike all the way until it actually friggin' happens?

I don't really care who directs it - as long as we get to see this flick - T3 was surprisingly fantastic, so I'm keen to see a fourth Terminator that maintains the franchise's high quality - but judging from everything we've heard so far - it'll probably be a disaster
