’87 Stepfather to DVD

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

Just the other day, I was saying how sad it was that I never saw the original STEPFATHER. I’ve been a horror nut for so long, with a particular penchant for 80’s screams, so I truly can’t explain why the Terry O’Quinn slasher slipped through the cracks. To fix this, I recently attempted to add THE STEPFATHER to my Netflix queue, but was surprised to learn that it wasn’t available. However, that is all about to change very soon because, you guessed it, 1987’s THE STEPFATHER is finally moving in to DVD!

The disc, coming October 13th from Shout! Factory, will be a new high-definition widescreen transfer and include a number of special features, such as audio commentary by and interviews with producer Jay Benson and actress Jill Schoelen (below), plus more to be announced. Retail price is $19.99. Clearly this DVD release is looking to tie in with the STEPFATHER remake, which comes out on October 16th. I think I’ll be going with the ’87 version on that weekend. I’m glad that the flick is getting a proper DVD release. To preorder it, just click right here,
