Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. producers say Age of Ultron will affect the TV series

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Last season, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. was impacted by the events of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER in a manner that altered the series forever. With season two wrapping up just in time for the theatrical premiere of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, the question of a tie-in between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it's small screen extension is a natural one. While the impact to the series may not be quite as significant as HYDRA's return in THE WINTER SOLDIER, there are bound to be global repercussions from the rise of Ultron.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. producer Jed Whedon told Entertainment Weekly that fans should be prepared.

"You should expect something. The Avengers is the big tent that all the franchises play under. Obviously, we're included in that."

The series referenced THOR: THE DARK WORLD in an episode involving the clean-up resulting from the Asgardian's battle with Malekith in England, but the events didn't affect the overall arc of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. I would expect, if the series gets a third season order, that the current storylines involving the Kree will have a big effect on the announced INHUMANS movie. Stay tuned to tonight's mid-season finale of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. to see what comes next.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
