All about Terminator

04.03.2009

As we await the impending release of McG's TERMINATOR SALVATION (inside word I've heard: Bale is awesome, the FX are amazing), Wired magazine has taken a look back at the series that launched time-hopping killer cyborgs into the public consciousness.

Creator James Cameron talked a bit about the film's beginnings, casting Arnold Schwarzenegger, technology and the evolution of the TERMINATOR series -- check out what he has to say RIGHT HERE.

Wired also charts the TERMINATOR timeline (of the franchise, not the mind-crushing time-travel aspects), reflects on the merits of Terminators, and even posits what it might take to handle one in real life. Plus a gallery of nice stills from the new flick, with commentary from director McG. That's a lot of metal -- check it out.

Extra Tidbit: Famously cranky sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison won a credit and settlement after threatening a plagiarism lawsuit over the first TERMINATOR.

I do not watch that trash. However, I still standby my thoughts on T2. I think it was brilliant from a technical standpoint, but that is where it ends. It was a completely annoying film and did not hold a candle to The Terminator.

I don't think he ever really was, oddly enough. A lot of people on television heard the rant and the general reaction among them was that it really wasn't that bad, especially considering the circumstances, and every single person on TV who commented on it said that they had heard far worse rants in their time.

Looks awesome!

I am one of the few people who HATES T2. I respect the technical aspects of the film, but T2 was just bad. Edward Furlong was annoying and stupid. Arnold as a good guy, stupid. Hasta La Vista Baby, one of the worst lines in history.

I think this will be good!

if you asked me if i would be exited for a future war Terminator film directed by McG a year ago, i would say 'blow off'.

Truth be told, i haven't seen anything that doesn't genuinely look... good. It could be meh, but what i've seen, from Worthington to Bale, from Mad Max to Terminator and back again, this looks like a hell of a lot of fun. It has my ticket opening night.
