Amy Adams and Emily Blunt in talks to join new films from Prisoners director

PRISONERS director Denis Villeneuve might have a couple of very lovely ladies for two different upcoming projects. He'll be working on the thriller SICARIO first, and Variety is reporting Emily Blunt is in negotiations to star in the movie. The script comes from Taylor Sheridan, and is about, "An officer from Tucson, Arizona who travels across the border to Mexico with a pair of mercenaries to track down a drug lord."

Villeneueve will film SICARIO this summer before moving on to the alien thriller STORY OF YOUR LIFE, although Villeneuve did join that project before being attached to SICARIO. Deadline has learned Amy Adams is in early talks to join STORY OF YOUR LIFE, which will shoot in early 2015. The script comes from THE THING (2011) and HOURS scribe Eric Heisserer, and is an adaptation of Ted Chiang's award-winning short story.

Synopsis for STORY OF YOUR LIFE:

The story is set in motion when alien crafts land around the world and an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat. As she learns to communicate with the aliens, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks that become the key to unlocking the greater mystery about the true purpose of their visit.

SICARIO might sound a little bland (especially compared to STORY OF YOUR LIFE), however I'm quite interested in both projects, and Amy Adams and Emily Blunt would be excellent additions to Denis Villeneuve's new films.
