Jennifer Aniston singing old school country music? It’s not a “Saturday Night Live” skit – oh wait, yes it is. But it’s also the premise behind her next movie GOREE GIRLS. Aniston will star in and produce the period musical about a group of female inmates in the 1940s who country-western band. The film is based on a real story that was highlighted in Texas Monthly titled “O Sister Where Art Thou.” The project is set up at DreamWorks who is currently searching for a director. GOREE is just one of a couple “prison musical” projects in the works including SLAMMER, a musical comedy starring Sarah Jessica Parker. GOREE also isn’t Aniston’s only prison movie in the works – she’s attached to star in WANTED where she’d play a cellmate of Meryl Streep. Aniston has yet to decide on her next project but has a number of possibilities to choose from.
