Goon

When you heard the name Quentin Tarantino, you probably immediately think of quippy dialog, excessive violence and... Vanity Fair?

QT is diligently prepping his World War II tale for its premiere at Cannes next month, and Vanity Fair has a few snaps from the flick, including Brad Pitt's scalp-seeking Nazi killer, the lovely Diane Kruger, and several of the principals as seen below.

Click that scowling crowd to check out the gallery.

Extra Tidbit: We'll have to wait until August to see the flick after hearing about its reaction at Cannes, dammit.

I just saw it...

...and it sucked, really not what I wanted or expected. Too bad.

Script vs. Finished Product

I think if you read the script for the Kill Bill movies without seeing the movies themselves they would have come off as ridiculous. QT is great with dialogue but his movies intentionally feature B-Movie type plots which would not come across well in a script. I trust that with his visual style and overall vision this movie is going to kick all sorts of ass.

the whole EXPENDABLES vs INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS thing has gotten out of hand and is pretty stupid. People wanted Sly, Arnie, Rourke, Willis and action stars for IB because they think thats what an action movie should have. It was never intended to have those kinds of actors in it (QT stated most casting rumors were never part of his consideration). Its a different story, its about the power of propaganda, to the Germans the basterds might as well be Sly, Arnie and Bruce, because thats what the

get over it, this isn't a run of the mill action film, its not Sly's goddamn rambo. if you read the script you'd know there is more to it, that it has a great story, filled with suspense and excellent characters.

This will be great.

I have to agree with JohnLocke. I actually laughed at the description of the pic with Pitt sitting on the box. "In a sinster moment." Sinister? He looks like some goofball who's just had an epiphany on the toilet in that picture. Maybe Pitt's goofy expressions will end up working in the finished product, but if the trailer is any indication I'm not holding my breath for that.

I can't say for certain since it's been a while since I've read the script, but I can't recall Pitt's character

I can't say for certain since it's been a while since I've read the script, but I can't recall Pitt's character ever actually killing any Nazi's. I could be wrong though.

I want to be really excited for this flick, but I can only muster a curious "I'll check it out at some point" feeling toward it. It's got so many factors going against it for me. Personally, THE EXPENDABLES is kicking all kinds of Basterd ass; I still do not like the Eli Roth casting; and I think Tarantino rushing to get this flick in the Cannes will ultimately hurt it.

But, as always, I'd be happy to be proven wrong. Just have to wait and see.

Is it just me, or are Brad Pitt's ridiculous facial expressions as Aldo Rain pretty goofy looking?

And does anyone know if he will actually be killing Nazis in the movie? It seems to me like it's the jewish soldiers that go on the mission and he's just kinda there being the big named star with not as much screen time.
