Burton adds Ladies

Oct. 7, 2008by: Daniel Barna

One of my most anticipated movies for next year has got to be Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND, if not for Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter alone. As the film begins production, Burton continues to fill out his cast, this time with a couple of big-name actresses taking the roles of the red queen and the white queen. The characters will be played by Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway respectively, the former being Burton's wife/muse and a virtual mainstay in his films.

Although this film is being made for Disney, I hope Burton makes it as dark and gothic as possible. While it's widely considered a children's story, there's actually some pretty twisted stuff going on in those pages, and Burton's definitely the man to bring all that murky, sinister stuff to life.

Burton's alice

The addition of Helena Bonham Carter in Alice was as inevitable as Johnny Deep in a Tim Burton film, seems like she's been added to the dynamic duo that is Tim and Johnny, the only question was who would she be playing, and now we know.

I think Anne is also an awesome addition to the film; I can't wait for this film as well as the complete list of cast members.

I kinda agree with Preston_79 but I'm still looking forward to this. Good casting for the two roles also. And Hathaway looks smoking in that pic (yes I had to write that).

Tim Burton's films are visually always something to look forward to. I loved the look of sweeney but didn't like the film (i just don't like musicals except spinal tap and a mighty wind). But i got a feeling that this film is gonna be a good one as long as studio heads don't mess with burton

Wow what a shocker! He cast his wife in a movie yet again.
I'm sure it will turn out good, 'cuz Helena was in Fight Club.

Burton beginning to get stale. I like many of his movies, but he's predictable these days. His vision isn't as visionary as it was in the past.

Burton is one of the only filmmakers who takes full advantage of the production design department. He's an amazing artist and one of my favorite filmmakers of all time.

No surprise Carter is in this, but Hathaway was unexpected. Truth is I love Burton's style, so I cant wait to see some pictures of this film.

Good stuff but...

It's great...makes you wish it was a live action film and not CGI bullshit.

NO WAY?

duh. The only thing Ive heard about this that intrigues me, or is even remotely a surprise, is Hathaway. Let me guess, a dark and visually appealing movie with shadows and clouds mixed with vivid colors and a sinister sense of humor bordering on whimsical and melancholy all at the same time!

Sorry Mr Burton, but I started walking in he other direction after the 5th time you casted Johnny. Now, after the hair musical, I couldnt have less interest.

This is news?

Again, no real surprises here. It's like, now that Burton has found a cast he's comfortable with, he feels more comfortable making the same movie over and over again, with the same characters in different costumes and against variations on the same sets.

Still, as unoriginal and caught-in-a-rut as Burton is, he's become really really good at making the same movie over and over again, so I have no doubt that this will be entertaining. I just doubt that I will be surprised by any of the

KNEW IT!

Me and a friend from work were talking about Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter the other day and we both thought that there's no way that Burton will cast anyone but Helena Bonham as the red queen.
