So SHADOW RECRUIT didnít seem to do so well for Chris Pine? I thought he would make an excellent Jack Ryan, but the audiences just werenít there for it. I thought it was entertaining enough. Sure, Pineís no Harrison Ford, but the guy still has all the necessary tools to take on the character.

No matter, Pine has several anticipated projects to move along with like INTO THE WOODS, HORRIBLE BOSSES 2, and Z IS FOR ZACHARIAH. It also looks like Pine is circling the Disneyís period Coast Guard drama THE FINEST HOURS. Craig Gillespie, who recently directed MILLION DOLLAR ARM starring Jon Hamm is up for the helming job.

The true story set in 1952 follows Ēa Noreaster hit the New England coast, and two oil tankers were caught in the middle. The ships split in two, casting its crews into the ferocious seas, and it was up to the valiant effort of the coast guard to attempt a rescue.ĒPaul Tamasy and Eric Johnson (THE FIGHTER) adapted the story from the non-fiction book by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias.

Robert Schwentke was once attached to direct the project but scripting took too long.

Extra Tidbit: Better possible Indiana Jones-- Chris Pine or Bradley Cooper?

I thought he made for a good Jack Ryan, but had the disfortune of being in a so so Jack Ryan film. I hope if he gets the chance to play the character again, the film delivers.

But this new film sounds just up his alley and I hope he signs on.

I also hope DC considers him for Flash for the Justice League film.

I like Chris Pine as Jack Ryan

I thought he'd make a great Jack Ryan, still do. The movie itself was just terrible, that's why it didn't do well. I realize they need the action element in there, which is fine in this day and age, but Ryan is not an action star. They should've had action a-plenty in the movie but very little involving Ryan, let him just stumble onto it. And all business with Cathy getting involved in the whole thing lost the movie credibility. Costner's role could've been beefier instead of just having him

I really hope they try again but go back to the source material, namely Tom Clancy's books.
