Cool Videos: Disney creates Lion King bloopers for the 3D re-release

4 years agoby:

Not a big LION KING fan. There, I said it. RAGE if you must but I didn't like it when I saw it in theaters and revisited it as an adult and didn't like it then either. Just a little too...Disney. It's like a Disney movie made in a lab by a bunch of technicians working to recreate the perfect "Disney movie." But I digress...

Remember those animated outtakes that Pixar tacked on to their first few films? They were charming and wonderful because that's just what Pixar does. But now, as Disney is re-releasing THE LION KING in 3D this fall, they've taken a crack at these animated outtakes (a bit, I should note, that Pixar retired long ago), in a viral marketing effort.

You might wonder why I'd post this if I'm so down on the whole idea. Well, the rest of the internet seems to love this video and I realize I'm in the tiny minority of people who dislikes one of the most beloved animated films in recent memory, so I'm guessing you may like it to. Enjoy?

THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN REMOVED AT THE REQUEST OF WALT DISNEY STUDIOS

Interesting, these are all heavily voice-related. It makes me wonder if these aren't *actual* bloopers from the real voice acting sessions

The last one was kinda funny

I remember when I was younger this was the last Disney movie I really liked. I think part of the hype about it was it wasn't based on a fairy tale.

I rewatched it a couple times recently and decided, besides having a really high pedigree of voice actors (Jeremy Irons and James Earl Jones have the two coolest voices), it also featured a villain who is a complete coward. Scar never does anything very cool or badass. I think Disney villains in general might've taken a dive after this.

Having a blooper reel for an animated film is never a good idea.
