Cool Videos: The 1995 trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron is radical, dude!

04.07.2015

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is at the cutting edge of Hollywood blockbusters. Joss Whedon's film features state of the art motion capture technology to make the Hulk and Ultron look as realistic as possible while also redefining what special effects can accomplish in a superhero movie. In short, it looks spectacular.

Twenty years ago, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON would have looked very different, but even then we looked at films as spectacles never before seen. Each new movie that came out seemed to top what previous studio tentpoles brought to screens and challenged the next big epic Summer movie. Even the trailers have changed. With that in mind, the creative folks at Vulture have cut together what the trailer for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON would have looked like if it had been released in 1995. The results are hilariously perfect.

I guarantee if you go back and revisit some VHS tapes from the mid-1990s, you would find almost every big movie trailer hit the same beats as this one. Ah, memories of my high school days.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits theaters on May 1st.

So all he did was make the trailer blurry? Wow blown away! My VHS tapes are not as blurry as that garbage.

I'm sorry but movies in the mid 90's didn't look this fucking blurry. The first dvd's were released 2 years after 1995. It's not like the technology jumped from blurry vision to crystal clear quality in that short time. VHS tapes didn't look this bad in 1995. And that font is more suitable for the late 80's early 90's.

Nicely done with the filters! The only thing is I wish they'd used shots of the T-500 or something similar for the Ultron scenes, so the anachronistic CG wouldn't stand out so much. But otherwise, pretty damn good recut.
