Cool Videos: The Art of David Fincher

10.01.2010

To celebrate the release of David Fincher's most acclaimed film yet, THE SOCIAL NETWORK, our own video guru Nick Bosworth has put together a pretty awesome montage dedicated to Fincher's best work over the years.

It features classic scenes from SE7EN, FIGHT CLUB, ZODIAC, THE GAME, BENJAMINE BUTTON and more, and really does remind us how talented the man is. I'm seeing THE SOCIAL NETWORK in a few hours, and it's 98% on Rotten Tomatoes (screw you Armond White) has me with pretty high expectations. How will it stack up to his other efforts? Will it finally win him that Oscar?

Check out the video below, and feel free to share what your favorite Fincher directed scenes have been.

Extra Tidbit: I went back to watch PANIC ROOM again recently because maybe I thought I missed something when I was younger, but nope, that is a legitimately terrible movie from the otherwise great director.

Fincher is abosolutely my favorite modern director. The guy knows just what strings to pull at and when. Fight Club was literally a life changing experience for me when I was younger. Both book and film. The guy is a genious and I can't wait to see SN.

Love "Panic Room!" Not great, but so fun and watchable. "Benjamin Button" however, great filmmaking, not great movie.

Panic Room was great! Sure, it's not a classic by any means, but it's one hell of an entertaining thriller and a movie I find to be quite rewatchable. I actually think The Game is his worst movie. It's ok and a good concept, but I think it is quite overrated.

I don't care what anyone says, but the curious case of benjamin button was an absolute great movie and was much better than the highly overrated slumdog millionaire... Fincher is by far one of Hollywoods best and I yet to see a movie of his that i dis like and yes tht includes panic room... Yes maybe the story isnt the best but if u just pay attention to the way fincher uses the camera and how he directs it is absolutly amazing... Ill be seeing The Social network on opening night and I cant

Trust him with a needle.

Good video, even though Alien 3 and Fincher's music videos are curiously unrepresented.

Y'know, all of this campaigning for Social Network is cool and all, but where the fuck were you guys with Scott Pilgrim?

Thanks for the comment bud, glad you loved it.

As for why no ALIEN 3, Fincher himself has completely dismissed the film as being his as it was a bad start to his career. So even though I love ALIEN 3, I'll respect his wishes.

Art in it's purest form.

By the time it got to Mr. Freemans V.O. at then end, I was misty. Not even fooling. And I have too watch Fight Club tonight. Have to. I agree with the extra tidbet, Panic Room is a low point in an otherwise stellar career, but Mr. Fincher is a brilliant movie maker. His movies caress your eyes like a lover. I know, cheesy. Can't help it, good movie making is rare and should be cherished.
