Creepy new trailer for the event series Wayward Pines

The television event Wayward Pines from executive producer M. Night Shyamalan may have just landed on my summer watching list. The show, based on the novel "Pines" by Blake Crouch, will remind a lot of you of Twin Peaks and it looks like that may not necessarily be a bad thing. Matt Dillon stars as a Secret Service agent investigating the disappearance of two other agents, when he finds himself trapped in a small town. The town may seem friendly enough, but as you will see, it’s inhabited by some crazy characters.

Read the rather long synopsis and check out the trailer below:

Imagine the perfect American town… beautiful homes, manicured lawns, children playing safely in the streets. Now imagine never being able to leave. You have no communication with the outside world. You think you’re going insane. You must be in Wayward Pines. Secret Service Agent ETHAN BURKE (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon, “Crash,” “City of Ghosts”) drives to the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, searching for two missing federal agents. One of the best Secret Service agents in the Seattle office, he’s the man who knew missing agent KATE HEWSON (Carla Gugino, “Watchmen,” “Entourage”) better than anyone. They were more than partners; their relationship nearly destroyed Ethan’s marriage.

Everything changes when a truck slams into his car…and he wakes up in the Wayward Pines Hospital, with the intense and unpredictable NURSE PAM (Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Melissa Leo, “The Fighter,” “Treme”) at his bedside. It soon appears that Pam is more interested in harming than healing. She and Ethan grow into deadly rivals, and her role in the town proves much deeper than anyone realizes.

What a great cast too! Melissa Leo, Terrence Howard, and the tantalizing Carla Gugino co-star. Shyamalan directs the pilot which airs May 14 at 9 PM on Fox. What do you think, will you be tuning in?

So it's a bit Silent Hill, a bit Twin Peaks and a bit Under The Dome...
At least has the potential to be entertaining.

Looks like one last chance for M.Night to redeem himself.

Impressive cast for a FOX event series. I like these small town thrillers, and this one seems like it will be pretty entertaining.

Looks Good To Me...

Shyamalan hasn't done a good film in a long while. I get it. But his first three are still proof that he can do it. I don't say he hasn't earned people's scepticism but for this series he has a book to draw from and that gives me hope. Reviews for the book are generally good after doing a quick google and I definitely don't relate to a below comment that it looks cheep. I'm open and looking forward to giving it a shot.

The source material was...OK.

I will give this a chance as I read the first book and thought it was not to bad. The twist ending is kind of cool I suppose, that and the monsters, if done right, could be nice.

Looks like crap...

seems like it could be interesting, but that was a really terribly shot trailer and pretty crappy looking production values. This looks like something that was shelved for like 5 years. The cast definitely backs that feeling up too.
