Daniel Craig offers up his thoughts on who should play James Bond next

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We haven't even seen SPECTRE yet, and Daniel Craig still is contractually lined up to do one more 007 film, but in the run up to the 24th James Bond movie, all anyone wants to speculate on is who could possibly play the super-spy next.

Idris Elba? Tom Hardy? Dan Stevens? Someone else?

In a recent interview with Time Out London, Craig himself was asked who he thought would be a sound replacement for him when his time as Bond was up, and he easily offered up the most definitive answer anyone could at this point in the process.

Look, I don’t give a f*ck. Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that’s all.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. How can you fault honesty like that?

Craig was a little more generous with advice though for whoeever might land the prestigious role, delivering some sharp words about the enormity of the job.

You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be shit…Go for it. Embrace it. Some clichéd line like that. But no, just make sure you’re great. You’ve got to push yourself as far as you can. It’s worth it, it’s James Bond.

Those are the words of a man who is clearly exhausted and would love the slightest break from James Bond, if even just for five minutes. Craig has put in his work in rejuvenating the franchise, so let's do him a solid. Five minutes… Ready… set… relax…

SPECTRE brings Daniel Craig back to theaters as James Bond on November 6.
