Del Toro’s Last Jedi character’s backstory to be revealed via Marvel Comics

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

One of my favorite aspects about having new Star Wars movies to enjoy is that each chapter of the saga introduces us to new, cool characters. In fact, one of the characters set to make his debut in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is Benicio Del Toro's DJ, a character that, so far, is a mystery to many fans of the sprawling, space-centric adventure.

In what we know so far, DJ will play an important part in the mission that brings Finn (John Boyega) and Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) to Canto Bight, a gambling locale. While the film will give us DJ's in-the-flesh antics , Marvel Comics will be detailing the character even more when they unleash a brand-new comic that's set to arrive in January of next year.

Written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker with art by Kev Walker, Star Wars: The Last Jedi – DJ #1 will introduce readers to a day in DJ’s life, offering insight into the character’s actions after his theatrical arrival.

You can check out the official listing for the upcoming title below:

Marvel certainly does know how to roll out the red carpet for their Star Wars line, don't they? You'll be able to catch Del Toro in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI when the film opens on December 15th.
