Die Hard worldwide! Willis says the film could start shooting next year

02.22.2010

Would you like another helping of DIE HARD?

Well, John McClane himself, Bruce Willis drops the bomb that DIE HARD 5 could start shooting as early as next year. Whammy!

MTV not really pressing for any news on a next installment (yeah, right), asked Willis if any character he did related to law enforcement would be compared to McClane. After saying that the mythology continues to grow, Willis just goes ahead and gives them what they want to hear. He would also hire Len Wiseman to direct the fifth installment.

So where will the next film take us? "Well it's got to go worldwide," Willis concludes.

Check out the interview below to hear the news:

Extra Tidbit: What would you like to see happen in the next DIE HARD film?

Unrated Die Hard 4 on DVD was killer. He says F*CK a lot and it makes the movie WAY better. Olyphant was still a a pussy though. We need a hardcore villain this time! Hell yeah more DIE HARD!!

Worlwide...

I totally see this as "terrorists attacking a NATO (or UN) gathering"...

Would love to see McClane go a little more "Jack Bauer" on this one...

Stoked.

I thought the 4th was a solid entry, even with the PG-13 rating. Still I'd love for the 5th to be Rated R and good enough to end the series on. I'd also rather they get a different director (McTiernan) if possible, but if they did go with Wiseman again, they could probably do a lot worse.

McClane goes to Hong Kong, and gets caught up in the Triad underground led by Jackie Chan (who speaks no English, only Cantonese). McClane comes close to winning the day, but alas, is killed at the hands of Jackie Chan... end of series.

Hahahaha

Is it just me, or from 1:09 onwards do they start using cutaways of a black guy for the presenter's questions?! He's not even wearing the same colour clothes as Bruce!

Rated R please

I skipped #4, and would only return to #5 if the R rating came back.

I'm up for another one!

I didn't think the newest one was half bad, though not my favorite. It's hard to beat the first two. I liked the third one too, even though other people seemed not to. cool to see them go worldwide!

Martin Campbell

Just to reiterate the point others are making. Please don't use Len Wiseman again! Try and get Martin Campbell to direct it! Like, really try, very hard.

No.

It's naive to think that they'd go R-rated for the next one after Die Hard 4. I mean, come on, they're saying it has to increase in scale again. They're just turning McClane into a superhero now. Worldwide, my arse. Let it die.

I'm okay with another Die Hard, but they need to scale it back. Bigger isn't always better.

Die Hard 4.0 wasn't too bad (Olyphant was just too weak a villain, killed it for me and it just got too "big" in the end). It was probably almost as good as Die Hard 2. For me the only reason Die Hard pips Vengeance is that it's the original but I love them both and cannot stop watching them.

Personally I think they need to scale it back down again. And get another director with true grit to direct it.

Live Free or Die Hard was a big disappointment (PG-13, Justin Long, Timothy Olyphant).

I'm not up for another disappointment especially with Len Wiseman at the helm again.

If it must be done

It has to find McClane on a down-note at the offset: beaten up or bankrupted or stranded. He's got to be cut off from the force somehow. He should not beat up women. He should not execute hugely improbable stunts, but survive mildly improbable improvisations. And, yeah, R.

I like this idea, especially if they have it set somewhere outside NYC. Stranded, captured or otherwise detained in a foreign country and NOT pulling Bourne style stunts or martial arts moves. They need to make the villain(s) formidable and believable as well.

yes,R rating! - i'd like to see some more cringe-worthy stuff like the walking on glass bit ( makes my top 10 of most cringe induceing scenes) --have something hapen that requires him to kick some ass, not go on a roadtrip. i would be ok if they straped another younger character allong for the ride, so long as its not a freek'n road trip andthey dont take away from the tension.

Sweet but....

...don't know maybe the guy is just joking. He plays a cop here, and a question about DIE HARD is not very original. Maybe he expect that kind of question and just say it to create some madness. But let's hope he's not!

Extra Tidbit: An R rating and leave out the stupid comic relief sidekick. John McClane can kick ass and spit out one-liners just fine by himself.

Bring back the R, bring back the element of reality (the mac truck on the collapsing freeway?), bring back the tension, and most importantly bring McTiernan out of retirement!

This will only be great if they replace Len Wiseman and hand it over to a director with a better feel for the franchise. Wiseman isn't a bad director, but having Die Hard with a blueish tone over everything just made it feel weird. Not to mention the unrated dvd version is 100 times better then the PG-13 shit they served us in the theater.

If we can get a script that doesn't involve a ridiculous technology plot and some old school terrorist stuff then I think Die Hard could be awesome again.

Yippi Kay Yayyyyyy

Could Die Hard 5 be the best 5th installment of all-time ? They need to get a really good bad guy. They could even get an oscar for it ! (Hello Anton Chigurh, The Joker, Hans Landa). Jackie Earle Haley with sunglasses ?

Also, someone should make a Freddy Mercury biopic starring Sacha Baron Cohen.
