There's a new trailer out for Oliver Stone's George W. Bush biopic, aptly titled W., and, yep, as Stone has contended time and again, this film definitely takes an objective look at the presidency of George W. Bush. No silly names or caricature portraits of Dubya or his cabinet here at all. Click through to see for yourself. Then see the wholly objective film on October 17th. Get the trailer in HD over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: Robert Duvall apparently considered playing Dick Cheney.

looks excellent

I'm very interested in Bush's life. I'm not a republican or a democrat, I'm very moderate (even tho I am down for some Obama)... but this looks very interesting. I kinda hope it's a bit accurate, even if it isn't I'm kinda tempted to see what it's like from Bush's point of view. I don't really hate the guy.. could care less about him.. I do think it's a bit fucked up how much this country makes fun of it's leader.. no other country does that, no matter how bad they hate him.

This does

This does look excellent tho. Kinda excited.

This.

I will see this. Not remotely interested how accurate it is, it just looks like good, satirical fun.

This looks like the kind of Oliver Stone film I was starting to think we'd never get again. World Trade Center was good, and what I saw of Alexander was decent, but this looks intense. Ridiculous and biased (what isn't?), but intense. Can't wait.

Okay I slammed the movie before but now I'm not too sure. I doubt the movie has mirrored Bush as he really is in his personal life but it looks... different... nonetheless.

Still interested in this. . .and the music fits perfectly, as do the attributive tags like "Vice." I lol'd.

History will judge W, yes. And Stone is part of the current cultural move towards this judgment. Anyone who believes that there will be entirely objective portrayals of Bush--or any other president of note--is a sandwich short of a picnic basket.

This is a man with a 31.5 approval rating and an economy in the shitter and about to flush. . .yeah, this movie is incredibly timely

I think this has potential..

Yes, it does say "based on a true story". But how many liberties will Stone have to take with the story? Bush is kind of a wisecracking man-child possibly with daddy issues and a domineering mother, thrust into a situation where he listens to the wrong people.

Could be Stone's best flick in years, and Elizabeth Banks is simply sexy as hell! (the Spiderman people would be wise to expand on her modest Betty Brant role).
