Final poster for Ender's Game with Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield says it's not a game

Aug. 2, 2013by: Paul Shirey

Sooooo, is it or isn't it?

The new (and presumably final) poster for ENDER'S GAME has arrived, which is basically a frontal shot of the original poster. It's a suitable poster, I suppose, but nothing groundbreaking or blow your hair back awesome. The text on the poster is what throws me, as they clearly spell out, "This is not a game," then drop the title: ENDER'S GAME. Yeah, that's nitpicking and perhaps there's a grander message that derives from the book, which I haven't read, so I'll leave it to the die hard fans to set us all straight.

Take a look:

ENDER'S GAME is a mixed bag for me. Visually, it looks sharp and refined and it carries some fine star power with the likes of Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, and Asa Butterfield, but thus far doesn't seem to have a lot of steam in terms of excitement. The unfortunate author controversy doesn't affect me, but can be a stain to others. On the flipside, the trailer shown at Comic Con was much more enticing than the one we've already seen and I think that will help generate some much-needed enthusiasm for something that feels rather lukewarm at the moment.

ENDER'S GAME opens on November 1, 2013.

Seeing the costumes on display, particularly Ender's, I've gotta say this doesn't seem like a badly designed film. It just looks like it could end up as run of the mill sci-fi fantasy. Heh at the tagline. Batman Begins: Batman Does Not Begin!

I love taglines like this. Imagine if all movies did this:
The Sixth Sense - Bruce Willis Haunts A Kid
Fight Club - Norton is Tyler Durden.
Psycho - Bates thinks he is his own Mom. Cause she died.

This is how I always imagined Han Solo would be doing years after Return of The Jedi. Training young New Republic fighter pilots.

Is Asa Butterfield a real human being or is he a ventriloquist's dummy? The kid seems all kinds of unnatural every time I see him.

While I'm looking forward to this movie, I like how the tagline directly contradicts the damn title. It's just kinda hilarious to me.

Eh

I'm not impressed by this poster. It looks too similar to previous posters. Nothing new. Nothing to excite me further for the movie.

I get the distinct feeling that the story has been raped.

I love the book... its fucking amazing. I'm sure they'll have taken out the video game that ender plays in battle school; possibly the most important aspect of the story since its how Ender pieces everything together and how they monitor his mental function.
I can guarantee they'll have taken out the deaths at the battle school as well for a PG13 rating.
I'll watch it out of love for the source material but i am not expecting much.

Still looking forward to this movie, despite Orson Scott Card's

douchebaggery, but it's clear the marketing department on this flick couldn't find their asses with both hands and a detailed cut-out-and-keep guide. I don't want to get into spoiler territory but let's just say the poster's done it all for me.

Ehhh...

I have never checked out this book so maybe it has an awesome plot and an amazing message but so far the film just hasn't grabbed me. I will likely wait for this to come out on Blu Ray unless the word of mouth is fantastic. On a separate note, it may get me some neggs but I feel like Harrison Ford has done an awful job picking his projects lately. This, Paranoia, and Cowboys and Aliens have all been or look pretty bland and he seems like he is phoning in a lot of his performances lately. I

I would love to see him in a really great, gritty western like Django or Unforgiven or just something where he can remind everyone why he became the icon he is.

Amazing.

The Super Mario Bros. movie had a similar one.
"This ain't no game. It's a live action thrill ride"
Not exactly confidence building.
