Evangeline Lilly Ant-Man and The Wasp

One of the post-credit scenes in Marvel's ANT-MAN found Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) revealing an advanced prototype of the Wasp suit to his daughter, Hope (Evangeline Lilly), with the promise that she would be the one to wear it. "It's about damn time," said Hope as the scene came to a close, and the stage was set for a sequel which would showcase Hope van Dyne as The Wasp. Director Peyton Reed has said that Evangeline Lilly will definitely be more than a supporting player this time around, as the upcoming ANT-MAN AND THE WASP will be "every bit as much her movie as it is Scott Lang’s." Thanks to a piece of art on a banner at the upcoming D23 Expo, we've got our first look at what Evangeline Lilly's Wasp costume will look like.

Not a whole lot different from what we saw at the end of ANT-MAN, but it will certainly be exciting to see Hope in action. Both Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly will obviously be returning for ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, but they'll also be joined by Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, Hannah John-Kamen, and Randell Park. As for what sort of story ANT-MAN AND THE WASP will tell, we're not sure, but the sequel will bring us plenty of fresh tech which will be able to do "new and stranger things." The suits worn by Scott Land (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) won't be all that much different from the ones which we've seen before, but they'll still represent an evolution of Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) technology. Peyton Reed added:

For Ant-Man specifically, in that first movie, the suit, intentionally so, is kind of a relic. It represents his past, so this is really the new iteration that is the modern version of the tech. This is a whole new suit. It's fun, because it's very specific for the needs of the story. The suits are one thing on the comic page. They are fantastic. When you actually have to make it seem realistic in the real world, in three dimensions, you've got to buy it. It's got to be credible.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP is set for a July 6, 2018 release.
