Green Lantern’s space ship arrives from the heavens

I guess I didn’t realize that GREEN LANTERN is already shooting, as it seems like just yesterday that Ryan Reynolds was announced as the titular hero, but I suppose with CAPTAIN AMERICA and THOR on the way, DC kind of needs to get their ass in gear.

A reader over at ComicBookMovie was on the film’s set in LA when they snapped the picture below which shows some kind of spaceship being lowered into the water. CBM explains the significance:

Anyone familiar with Green Lantern mythology should know that there is one space ship that is crucial to Hal Jordan’s origin story. That ship belonged to his predecessor Abin Sur; who crash landed on Earth before passing his duties onto the former test pilot. The intricate design of Abin’s ship has varied throughout the years, but it’s sleek, silver look has remained consistent.

I would have thought that in this day and age all that would just be CGI, but it’s nice to see they’re still occasionally using physical objects in blockbuster movies.
