Gugino in Watchmen

When the official cast for Zack Snyder’s upcoming WATCHMEN adaptation was announced just about two weeks ago, we speculated that delicious SIN CITY vixen Carla Gugino was up for the role of Sally Jupiter aka the first Silk Spectre and mother of Malin Akerman’s Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre II.

Turns out we were right as The Hollywood Reporter today confirmed that she will indeed be starring as the stripper-turned-
costumed heroine sex symbol who formed part of the crime fighting group preceding the Watchmen – the Minutemen.

And just to refresh your memory of the rest of the cast, there’s Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan, Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach, Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl, Matthew Goode as Ozymandias and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as The Comedian.

Set in a world where costumed superheroes have been outlawed, the story follows one vigilante crime fighter (Rorschach) who re-surfaces to investigate the death of a former colleague and in the process uncovers an intricate conspiracy. The film’s scheduled for release March 6th, 2009.
