IFC wants a sequel to Eric England’s body-horror flick Contracted

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

If you haven't gotten around to checking out Eric England's gross-out body horror film CONTRACTED you should make an effort to do so. It's a nasty little indie gem that, for me, hit all the right notes and delivered a stomach-churning good time. Now it seems that a possible sequel to CONTRACTED may be in the cards as FearNet is reporting that IFC has hit England up for a sequel, with the director sharing…

"IFC has asked us for a sequel. I told the producers I wasn't interested because I never envisioned a sequel in the first place but [said] if I came up with an idea that I felt lived up to or surpassed the first film and [that I] was passionate about, I would."

"It took about a month or so of convincing, but I finally turned in a pitch after an idea came to me. Now, it's just up to the business side of things – if it makes sense for them and for us."

England also added that CONTRACTED: PHASE II, as the sequel is now known, "will pick up where the first one left off."

CONTRACTED told the story of…

…a young girl who has a one-night stand with a stranger and contracts what she thinks is a sexually transmitted disease – but it is actually something far worse. As things begin to crumble around her, she is sent on a disturbing and bloodcurdling journey sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

CONTRACTED stars Katie Stegeman, Charley Koontz, Najarra Townsend, E-Kan Soong, Matt Mercer, Simon Barrett, Alice Macdonald, Jennifer Gonzalez, Ruben Pla, Lionel D. Carson and Caroline Williams.

I'm completely onboard with a sequel to CONTRACTED and would love to see it happen, but England has a busy slate ahead of him and it could be a while before PHASE II could head in front of the cameras…if ever. We'll just have to keep our rotting fingers crossed.
