Iron Man pic - smaller sparks

Please note my use of the word "spoilers" in the title of this article. And then note it again for good measure.  Are we now on the same page in that "here be potential spoilers?" Okay, good - you can check out all the info after the picture.

Black Widow cosplay

This was the breast Iron Man-related filler picture I could find.

What we have today, if true, confims a rumor strongly bandied about even in the face of continuous sidestepping and/or outright denial from both Marvel and director Shane Black - namely that IRON MAN 3 will see Tony Stark versus The Mandarin.

'While talking to some Wilmington (IRON MAN 3's home base of operations) locals, we had one source involved with the production tell us that Mandarin was definitely the villain. He said Mandarin had a set of twins that did most of his dirty work for him. Another source who had visited EUE/Screen Gems Studios told us that the sets they were building included Chinese storefronts."  We already knew that IRON MAN 3 will be filming a bit in China (see above link), so that second piece of news isn't all too surprising.  As for the Mandarin bit, I do think that you can avoid the "racist caricature" aspect of the character just by making the name (etc..) a part of the villain's plan to misdirect and plant the seeds of discord.  So it honestly wouldn't surprise me in the least if Ben Kingsley is, in a way, playing The Mandarin after all.

As for the more minor spoiler: "The story for Iron Man 3 will be set in Miami, Florida. A source close to the production revealed that he had seen vehicles emblazoned with logos for the city of Miami and Miami Police Department being unloaded on one of the sets."

So there you have it - today's portion of grist for your rumor mill.  Any thoughts?

Ben Kingsley head scar

Extra Tidbit: As talented as Kingsley really is, the best villain-related casting coup IRON MAN 3 pulled off has to be Guy Pearce.

I'm not sure of this story arc, but hopefully it will turn out. Ben Kingsley can't go no wrong.

Except Thunderbirds.
And Prince Of Persia. Or The Love Guru. Errr, A Sound of Thunder was pretty shit as well.Apart from those (and Dave), Kingsley can't do no wrong. (forgot Slipstream)

I just hope this one makes up for the lackluster second one.

My only question is whether or not Andy Lau (of Infernal Affairs) is in the movie or not. I really hope he's in as I'm a fan of his works since I was a kid.

Well duh. The Mandarin was by far the most logical next villain.

Great news. If Mandarin really is the villian for Iron Man 3, then I think this film has the potential to be the best Iron Man film ever. It makes sense that Iron Man should fight Mandarin with the whole supernatural aspect that he and the future Avengers villian Thanos have as powers. Also, he is Iron Man's most popular villian, so what better way for Iron Man to end his own solo Avenger films with him fighting his most popular and powerful villian.

I agree with HEL105, in that this film

I agree with HEL105, in that this film has one terrific cast for a comic book film.

Never understood the whole "Mandarin is a racist/un PC character" talk. I thought it was cool that he was the descendant of Genghis Kahn and if we got Thanos in Avengers 2 it makes sense to bring in the 10 rings and all that cosmic mcguffin stuff. Can't wait!

The casts of comic book movies keep getting better and better, I absolutely love it. And I agree with the tidbit, Pearce was also the coolest part of the already cool trailer for Lawless that I finally got to see yesterday.
