Jared Harris takes a leading role in the Poltergeist reboot

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Have we truly discussed this whole POLTERGEIST reboot thing? The first film came out 31-years ago so perhaps it’s time for an update.

Yeah, I know, 31-years ago. It blows my mind.

There’s definitely some promise with the reboot. Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt will play the heads of the Bowen family, and now Jared Harris has been added. Another good sign? Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will be producing under their Ghost House Pictures banner.

The film is said to go in a different direction from the Tobe Hooper‘s 1982 original which was co-written and produced by Steven Spielberg. Harris will play “Carrigan, a larger than life TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of basic cable TV show Haunted House Cleaners. He’s recruited by his ex, a parapsychologist at a local university who investigates the supernatural events surrounding the Bowen girl’s disappearance.”

Nicholas Braun (PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER) is being tapped for a role as the grad student of Carrigan’s ex “who visually documents the investigation and quickly sheds his skepticism regarding what’s really going on inside the Bowen home.”

Who’s up for a reboot of this classic?
