Jessica Chastain wants to play a villain in a James Bond movie

10.13.2015

Jessica Chastain Banner

Since her 2011 run of movies that put her on the map, Jessica Chastain has played a CIA agent (ZERO DARK THIRTY), a scientist (INTERSTELLAR) and an astronaut (THE MARTIAN), but there's one role the actress would really like to play: the main baddie in a James Bond movie.

During an interview with W Magazine, Chastain said "One of my goals is to play a villain in a Bond film. People ask me if I want to be a Bond girl, and I say, ‘No, I want to be the villain.’ I’m waiting for that call!"

When you think about it, the franchise really hasn't had that many female lead antagonists, and with all the talk as of late about the lack of strong women characters in movies, maybe someday Chastain will get the call she's been waiting for. EON Productions could do a hell of a lot worse than Chastain as the villain, so hopefully they are listening.

Jessica Chastain can be seen next in Guillermo del Toro's CRIMSON PEAK on October 16th, while the latest big screen Bond adventure, SPECTRE, is due in theaters on November 6th.

I would actually have no interest in her as a Bond girl and plenty of interest in her as a Bond villain. Sign me up!

All for this

Just don't sexualize her character. You don't need it. Make her a bad ass character who's a formidable foe for Bond.

There's an almost endless list at this point of who should play a Bond villain, so Chastain can join the list. I do however want a female villain. We haven't really had one since "The World Is Not Enough" and for some reason, these women always end up seducing Bond aka using their bodies as a ploy to get them where they want him. Just give us a female main villain who doesn't need to use her sexuality as her weapon. Where the hell is Rachel Weisz?

Do This, Do This Now!

I would love to see Bond truly torn between saving the world or pursuing his affections for a Chastain villain. If they could really build up Bond and Chastain's relationship for a huge third act payoff that would be awesome.

Awesome

The idea of a female villain (a real femme fetal type) is perfect for Bond and Chastain would nail that type pf role. Think about how great Monica Bellucci was in the World is not Enough. She was a great villain because she could use her sexuality as well as be really evil. It creates a really interesting dynamic for a Bond film and it's rather surprising it hasn't been explored more.

Monica Bellucci wasn't in "The World is Not Enough". She's in "Spectre", though. You're thinking of Sophie Marceau.

so tired of Hollywood star's caprices...

" i want to do that, I want to do this... call me "
To make a good movie, first get a good script, and then get the good actor for each character.
That's why it's hard for stuggling actors to make their way in movies, cause once you are famous, you are in sort of aristocratia and get all the good roles...
I love when some directors like James Cameron try to stay with the audition process (A list actors or not) ;

Saying what type of parts she would like to play hardly qualify as a caprice, especially in the context of an interview about her career. She doesn't force anyone to give her anything.

@JimmyArrow : yes of course, you are right, but you known that the fame puts you in position of strengh to get some roles which would maybe fit better for unknown actors... but, hey, who cares, it's the perk of being famous, I would do the same if I was a movie star...
