Joe Wright’s Hanna gets Eric Bana

Looks like Eric Bana will be making a return to action. The hunky Aussie actor and funnyman will be cast as Saoirse Ronan’s father in director Joe Wright’s teenage assassin film HANNA.

According to THR’s Heat Vision blog, the film “tells the story of a 14-year-old Eastern European girl saved from a CIA breeding camp and raised by her dad to be a cold-blooded killing machine. After finding peace with a French family, the girl is dragged back to her father’s world, and she must fight her way to a free life.” As our own Paul Tassi pointed out back in November, this sounds a little like LEON and Hit-Girl, though knowing Joe Wright’s predilections, probably a lot more earnest. It will, however, be interesting to see how the excellent Saoirse Ronan (THE LOVELY BONES, ATONEMENT) will play a cold-blooded f*cking assassin.

Expect HANNA to be released sometime in 2011.
