John Carpenter turns a girl into a creature with Darkchylde

Influential genre filmmaker John Carpenter has given us some true sci-fi and horror classics… just not in a while.

The director of such awesomeness as HALLOWEEN, THE THING, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, etc., is taking another swing with an adaptation of the comic DARKCHYLDE. The story follows “a good hearted southern teen cursed to become the creatures from her many recurring nightmares. Every time Ariel Chylde transforms, she sheds her skin and a new nightmare emerges from her Id to act out her deepest, darkest impulses.”

Monsters and a young hottie? That holds some promise.

As Carpenter proclaims, “Randy Queen’s hijacked angel, Ariel Chylde, is the best young female character since Laurie Strode in Halloween. Bringing Ariel and her dark mysteries to life should be quite an adventure for us all.”

The FX masters at Weta Workshop (LORD OF THE RINGS, DISTRICT 9) are on board to help make the nightmare a reality — you can check out some of their NSFW test footage below.
