John Travolta and Ethan Hawke to star in Ti West’s In a Valley of Violence

One of my favorite writer-directors in horror right now is Ti West. He completely won me over with THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL. When I hear that he’s up to a new project, it definitely stays on my radar.

The next project for West is a revenge western titled IN A VALLEY OF VIOLENCE, and it will be set in the 1890s. That’s not the most interesting part of the news—the lead stars will be John Travolta and Ethan Hawke. With no other plot details, we can’t for sure say that it’s going to have anything to do with the horror genre. Though, I would like to see a western horror. Preferably something terrible.

If it is a horror flick, it will be a first for Travolta. Hawke has already dipped his toes in with films like THE PURGE and SINISTER. Honestly, I’m just here to report on the pairing. I’d usually piss and moan about how this is beneath someone like Hawke but it’s West so it doesn’t bother me that much. The pair should create an interesting dynamic. I’m not surprised with Hawke’s choices after GETAWAY with co-star Selena Gomez. Hawke, look at any of the BEFORE series with Linklater. You’re better than that.
