I haven't seen LESS THAN ZERO and I'm not a huge fan of THE RULES OF ATTRACTION. But I love AMERICAN PSYCHO, so I'm pretty psyched about the idea of Bret Easton Ellis' THE INFORMERS getting the movie greenlight. I also like the idea that Gregor Jordan (NED KELLY) has been tapped to direct the flick, since I think he'll do well with Ellis' traditionally amoral characters. The book is a series of interconnected vignettes set in Los Angeles, 1983, featuring a rogue's gallery of movie executives, rock stars and even a vampire. Here's what the synopsis on the back of the book has to say:

Dirk sees his best friend killed in a desert car wreck, then rifles through his pockets for a last joint before the ambulance comes. Cheryl, a wannabe newscaster, chides her future stepdaughter, "You're tan but you don't look happy." Jamie is a clubland carnivore with a taste for human blood. As rendered by Ellis, their interactions compose a chilling, fascinating, and outrageous descent into the abyss beneath L.A.'s gorgeous surfaces.

THE INFORMERS will mark the first time that Ellis has adapted one of his own stories for the screen.

good news
what the Brett Easton Ellis book to movies were missing was Ellis' personal adaptation. Less than Zero is a great book and a decent movie. American Psycho is horrible with the exception of a stand out performance by Christian Bale. Rules of Atrraction only interested me because it was interesting to see James Van Derbeek be a guy and not a sniviling pussy. If Ellis is personally involved...

If Ellis is personally involved with the screenplay then bring it on, Informers was a dynamic novel.
