Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to do a rewrite on the Ouija script

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Last we heard, OUIJA was no longer on. Paramount gave up when the film was set to be a big budget affair. Now Universal has decided to give it a shot with the budget drastically slashed.

They’ve also picked up two new writers for the film– Juliet Snowden and Stiles White. The writing duo have worked on 2005’s BOOGEYMAN, 2009’s KNOWING, and more recently THE POSSESSION starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Don’t worry, Michael Bay is still set to produce this shit. There’s sarcasm all over that last sentence. TRON: LEGACY scribes Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz were originally set to scribe.

As far as a plot goes, we have little, but you can probably guess what it might be. Found footage? Spooky tales? A redraft of WITCHBOARD minus Tawny Kitaen? Found footage turns out to be the closest guess. Variety’s original article mentions this: “indications are it will be in keeping with the high-concept, low-budget model Blum [Jason Blum, producer] has used with success for the “Paranormal Activity” franchise.”

The film is due out some time in 2013.
