Leonardo DiCaprio will take a bit of a break from acting

I recently saw DJANGO UNCHAINED and thought Leonardo DiCaprio did such a magnificent job. It’s too bad the Academy didn’t think enough of his performance to give him a nod for Best Supporting Actor. He and Christoph Waltz gave my favorite performances in the film, and rightfully so. Both were nominated for the same category for The Golden Globes, but DiCaprio lost the award to Waltz. It could have gone to either and been a win in my opinion.

It seems now that DiCaprio wants nothing more than to take a break from his craft. During a recent interview, the actor had this to say about his rather long and busy career:

“I am a bit drained. I’m now going to take a long, long break. I’ve done three films in two years and I’m just worn out. I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment.”

DiCaprio went from DJANGO to THE GREAT GATSBY to most recently, Martin Scorsese‘s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.

While on the topic of do-gooding, DiCaprio confessed how he is keeping it green, “My roof is covered with solar panels. My car is electric. A normal person does not drive more than 50 kilometres (31 miles) a day. That can be done with a plug.”

I don’t blame the guy, and more power to him for wanting to do something good with the time that he does take off. I think he deserves it.
