Mockingbird Lane closes its gates officially

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Though most of us kind of had an inkling this news was coming, it has finally been made official: MOCKINGBIRD LANE is kaput. Series showrunner Bryan Fuller confirmed the kill himself via Twitter:

“I tweet with a heavy heart. NBC not moving forward with #MockingbirdLane. From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support.”

The series’ pilot had its fair share of birthing pains– showrunner Bryan Fuller and director Bryan Singer apparently had huge disagreements over the show’s visual style and NBC’s execs were allegedly less than enthused with the finished pilot. MOCKINGBIRD LANE aired in October as a Halloween special that garnered solid numbers, but that hasn’t stopped NBC from passing on the project.

That’s okay, though– those involved in MOCKINGBIRD LANE have got plenty of pots on the burner. Fuller has moved on to be the showrunner of HANNIBAL, Portia De Rossi has got ARRESTED DEVLOPMENT starting up again, Bryan Singer is doing another X-MEN movie and Jerry O’Connell is still married to Rebecca Rojmin. See kids? Every TV show cancelled has a silver lining. Especially if you’re Jerry O’Connell…
