Moore writes trilogy

Apr. 18, 2008by:

Ron Moore "Battlestar Galactica" mastermind Ron Moore has signed on to develop an original sci fi film for the Tom Cruise/Paula Wagner revived production company United Artists. That in and of itself is good news but he's signed to develop an entire trilogy of original sci fi films. Considering BSG is essentially the greatest science fiction TV show ever conceived in the history of the universe, this is pretty exciting news. Granted, Moore was working with existing material on BSG but considering the way he re-invented the material and turned into the most spectacular space opera this or any other parallel universe has ever seen, the guy's clearly got some aptitude for quality, relevant science fiction. Let's just hope UA stays afloat long enough for these films to hit the big screen. The final season of BSG, in case you needed reminding, is currently airing on the Sci Fi Channel on Fridays at 10pm EST.

Extra Tidbit: Moore was on board to develop Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonriders of Pern" as a pilot for the WB but it was canceled before production began.

BSG rocks!

Currently, "BSG" is my favourite show on TV for the past few years now and "Lost" comes in at a very close second. Both of them are amazing sci-fi shows.

what?

bsg is not the best sci-fi show ever, you might have heard of a little program called the x-files or lost maybe? See these shows get nominated for these things called emmys and they win despite going up against shows like the sopranos (considered maybe the best tv show ever forget about sci-fi) they also dont have actors that you have never seen before or after the show originated (minus one hot naked blonde in playboy and well beyond his prime olmos) also even the x-files 10 years ago had

Babylon 5 are you kidding? Now ron Moore CAN WRITE so that could be great it just sucks that they have such crap budget on a crappy network for an ok show!

I hate it when movies are immediately branded as "trilogies" before they even start working on the first! It's a bad omen... Just look at Jumper and Riddick.

Notwithstanding, I'm glad Star Trek graduate Ronald Moore is gaining popularity and getting cool projects.

Now now... I'm also a browncoat, but let's not forget Star Trek.

Battlestar Galactica is a great TV show, but I liked Firefly more because of the different characters and dialog, especially the dialog, it was so well-written. Not to mention the performances by the actors.

Concerning this new trilogy... I wonder if Tom Cruise will star in them. That would be nice.

BSG the best there is?

Um, actually there is a show called "Babylon 5"...and I would think majority of sci-fi shows should be measured up to that!

(And mind you, it took me a long while to get into that show, and I wasn't disappointed...)

Consider my interest peaked

I love the idea of most trilogies, especially if they're conceived as such before hand and not just thrown together (*cough* Matrix *cough*)

Oh and vnqshr, BSG is a pretty sweet series. I haven't gotten into Firefly/Serenity yet (they're on my Netflix), but I've blown right through BSG since starting it a couple months ago.

From what I've seen, you've got to start with the Battlestar Galactica four part miniseries to get the beginning of this series. From there, feel free to go to S1 + S2

From there, feel free to go to S1 + S2 and then the webisodes (which, i admit I didn't watch). That brings you to S3 (which I'm currently on). After S3, you've got the Razor miniseries and poof, you're ready for the fourth and final season.

Now now, even as a loyal Browncoat, I'm still not going to start telling you how there is no way that BSG can be better than Firefly/Serenity, as I haven't yet seen any BSG. So my question is, is it REALLY that good? and if I'm a big Firefly fan, will I probably like it? AND. If I SHOULD see it, where does it start? I've seen so many mini-movies, mini-series etc. that I'm a tad baffled by the whole thing! What is a good thing to see first?

(P.S. Whedon is the master. You Can't Take the Sky

EDIT: Cheers SchiezaInc08, I'll make sure to at least hire the mini-series. I hope you enjoy Firefly, but then, who wouldn't!? :)
