Natalie Portman had been making some incredible choices with her acting roles lately. From a Danny McBride fantasy adventure to a Darren Aronofsky thriller and a stoner comedy, the girl who was once nominated for an Oscar was seemingly finding all the right projects. But now I'm a little confused. An Ashton Kutcher romantic comedy?

First of all, to see Portman in any romantic comedy is somewhat distressing but if it were something by James L. Brooks or Cameron Crowe or something, I'd be able to wrap my head around it. Instead she'll star alongside Kutcher in FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS to be directed by Ivan Reitman. While Reitman has brought us some classic comedies in his salad days, lately it's been more MY SUPER EX-GIRLFRIEND than STRIPES. And I'm not even going to get into my thoughts on Ashton Kutcher in a romantic comedy.

The movie will be pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a movie titled FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS. Two hip and attractive young adults find themselves enjoying their random sex romps but can't seem to settle down with each other. Oh the perils of the young and sexy. The film has already snagged itself a January 7, 2011 release date with filming set to begin this May.

I'm not mad at Natalie Portman. This is the first time she's done anything that I wasn't okay with. But I am mad at the movie. And Ashton Kutcher, always.

It might take more than the beautiful Natalie for me to see this one. We'll see how this develops.



Some interesting choices. I was hoping to see her in Wuthering Heights as well, but that wasn't meant to be.

I love Portman's choices lately, so I'm disappointed in this news.. but I'm not going to dismiss this project outright until there's atleast a trailer. Maybe she sees something in it..

Well Portman is attached to some amazing sounding movies, she has Your Highess, Pride and Prejudice with Zombies, and Thor! All movies that sound mainly amazing for fanboys and joblo fans, while this movie for Kutcher is mainly for the complete opposite of that group of fine folk. Naturally she is broadening her audience.

I actually thought "Evolution" was pretty funny, if a bit derivative of Reitman's masterpiece.



Portman could totally make a worthwhile rom-com.



Kutcher can't. He's tried. It's not possible. I keep wondering if he'll ever attempt something of substance. What annoys me most is that I believe against hope that he could pull off something better. He's essentially lazy...

Six Days, Seven Nights may not have been high-larious, but it was still pretty good...in a quirky kinda way. Ivan Reitman can do romance! Harrison Ford and Anne Heche? He makes it work.

A- What happens in Vegas is Hilarious! B- Portman needs to get involved in some rom-com cause she's sitting idly by watching hotties like beil, alba, diaz, garner take every role. She needs to get back out that and be cute and adorable again!!! V4Vendetta was the last time her name popped out there. Go get it girl!

Hate to say it, Mr. Sampson, but you're dead wrong about this. Just Married and What Happens In Vegas were both quite entertaining if you ask me, and Natalie is in need of something mainstream to keep her in the mind of the movie-going public. Phantom Menace just don't cut it no more.

I'm happy to say i'm yet to see a Kutcher film and as much as i love Portman thats a record i'm keen to keep.Why do studios cast this guy has he actually had a hit film.
