N’awlins Lee Jones

There’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Tommy Lee Jones. Tasting the leftovers of Alec Baldwin, the ever-gruff Jones will play Louisiana lawman Dave Robicheaux (a role previously played to the opposite of success by Baldwin in HEAVEN’S PRISONERS) in a feature adaptation of author James Lee Burke’s novel IN THE ELECTRIC MIST WITH CONFEDERATE DEAD. Sure, why not? Jones is already capable with the Southern accent, at the very least.

The story finds craggy Cajun crimefighter Robicheaux teaming with a female FBI agent to solve a series of murders that involve decades-old deaths and the visions of a Civil War soldier. Hey, whatever keeps him away from DOUBLE JEOPARDY 2: QUADRUPLE JEOPARDY. Personally I’d rather see him get behind the camera again — his directing debut THREE BURIALS OF MELQUIADES ESTRADA is a beautiful, truly accomplished modern Western.
